I am currently considering adding voice clips to the default scene handler. At the moment of writing this, every human character has a voice.

Now, here’s the question for you guys. Is this a bit jarring? That’s why I would like to weigh your opinions on the matter with a poll here.

Update: As a sizeable chunk were not fond of the voices, there will be an option to enable/disable them.

There were plans for Argent City to have a Raticate Racetrack facility which the player could bet on different Raticate which would possess different names and odds of winning. As for why Raticate was chosen; this is Rei’s main Pokemon and it provides alliteration with the word “race”. It would have been similar to God Hand’s Chihuahua Races.

Of course, the Raticate Racetrack already had its own music prepared.

An additional facility I wish to revisit at some point will be an underground battle arena in Argent City which the player can either participate in or place bets on competitors while watching their fights. This necessitated changes to the script which would allow for AI vs. AI battles and is already implemented in the engine.

I have reached RMXP’s tileset height limit for the overworld tiles and will need a clean workaround. In the meanwhile, Holly City will use some familiar assets until I come up with a good solution. After this, I will give Holly City its own unique identity as I’ve done when spriting each towns’ architecture.
